The Real World is a Harsh Place

Not as harsh as the TV show. The fact that the show still exists is offensive to me.  Not as offensive as the fact that the people on it all signed paperwork that gives MTV the right to do anything, while absolving them of anything bad that might happen to you. Anything? Yes. Anything.

If you get raped by another cast member while taping the show and contract a disease from your raping… MTV is not responsible.

  • “Interacting with other cast members carries the risk of “non-consensual physical contact” and should you contract AIDS, etc. during such an interaction, MTV is not responsible. (7)”

If you get pregnant from your raping, MTV can fire you.

  • “You’re not pregnant and you won’t become pregnant before the show’s done filming. If you do become pregnant, you’ll tell the Producer immediately–and pregnancy is grounds for dismissal. (38)”

If anyone asks about it, MTV can say that you had consensual sex with Barney Rubble.

  • “The Producer can do pretty much anything they want with your life story, including misrepresent it. (49)”

Really.
